In her role as Knowledge Lawyer, Cathy provides technical expertise and knowledge support to Clyde & Co’s construction practice across both the Construction Professional Indemnity and Energy & Construction teams, drawing on her extensive experience and understanding of the construction and professional indemnity sectors.

She has wide experience in construction and professional negligence dispute resolution, drawing on over 17 years post-qualification work acting on a range of disputes on behalf of contractors, insurers and consultants, both as an associate and later as a partner in the City, plus working in-house for a major UK energy business. Cathy acted in complex, high value and frequently multi-party construction and professional negligence disputes. Her experience encompasses high-profile High Court litigation, domestic and international arbitration, adjudication and alternative dispute resolution, as well as supervising a specialist professional indemnity claims handling team for primary layer insurers.

Cathy has also been a Visiting Lecturer on the Postgraduate Diploma in Law at the College of Law at Store Street in London and has previously qualified as an Associate Certified Coach with the International Coaching Federation. She has substantial experience in writing and presenting training seminars, has authored and published over 50 articles and is on the Lawyers’ Pro Bono Recognition List of England and Wales 2026.

• Acting for numerous construction professionals and their PI insurers on many cases of different values from the notification and pre-action stage through to settlement/trial.

• Acting for various developers and contractors in relation to a wide range of disputes including adjudications.

• Acting for an international firm of architects in multi-party proceedings in relation to a claim in excess of £10 million arising out of the design and construction of a building in the City of London.

• Acting for a large firm of engineers in an international arbitration in relation to a claim for approximately £5 million arising out of the construction of a water retention dam.

• Acting for a specialist water and wastewater treatment company and their joint venture partner (contractor) in proceedings relating to a claim of approximately £100 million commenced by a statutory water undertaker.

• Acting for a statutory water undertaker in respect of a claim by a developer for alleged breach of statutory duty.

• Defending numerous claims against surveyors arising from the overvaluation of residential and commercial properties

• Claims handling and risk management for a large firm of auctioneers/surveyors

• Acting for various construction and surveying professionals in criminal proceedings commenced by the Health and Safety Executive.

• Handling disputes of all kinds for a FTSE 100 regulated utility company to include regulatory, property, and construction matters.
