David has been a partner at Clyde & Co since 1996.

Throughout his career he has specialised in insurance and reinsurance acting for the company market and Lloyd's Syndicates in London as well as overseas insurers and reinsurers.

David acts on inwards and outwards reinsurance matters on treaty and facultative covers, at a direct, first tier and retrocessional level. He handles cases originating in both marine and non-marine markets. David has extensive litigation experience both in court and arbitration and was lead partner for the successful claimant in what remains the longest insurance/reinsurance case in the Commercial Court.

He specialises in structuring bespoke and innovative insurance and reinsurance products.

On the direct side he has particular expertise in the field of professional indemnity and coverage issues.

Expérience

• Lead partner in the Sphere Drake v Euro International case in the Commercial Court which won the team Litigation Team of the Year
• Acting for reinsurers in relation to Unicover and US workers' compensation business
• Acting for reinsureds in relation to disputes arising from major satellite losses
• Acting for reinsures on marine XL claims
• Acting for reinsurers on both US and UK APH claims
• Acting for direct writers on coverage and policy disputes with a particular emphasis on professional indemnity
