Miguel is a dual-qualified lawyer in England and Wales and Colombia, based in our London office, with extensive experience in litigation and arbitration across Central and Latin America.

Miguel advises insurers and reinsurers on complex cross-border coverage issues, with a focus on jurisdictions including Argentina, Peru, Chile, Ecuador, Colombia, and Guatemala. His experience includes Directors’ and Officers’ (D&O) liability, Professional Indemnity, and Property Damage. He also supports clients in monitoring local proceedings and managing subrogation actions across the region.

Before joining Clyde & Co, Miguel practised in Colombia, where he developed a strong practice in commercial litigation and arbitration. He has advised on shareholder disputes, construction-related claims, and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, including Dispute Boards under FIDIC model contracts.

Expérience

• Advising reinsurers in connection with regulatory investigations by the Colombian Contraloría into delays and cost overruns in the Bioenergy bioethanol project.
• Representing insurers in a USD 30 million professional indemnity coverage arbitration before the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce, arising from a U.S.-based dispute involving a large Colombian bank.
• Advising reinsurers in a Property Damage coverage claim concerning a turbogenerator turbine failure at a Guatemalan sugar mill.
