Madeleine Spencer is a Paralegal based in the Sydney Insurance team assisting in matters involving significant D&O and PI coverage, including shareholder class actions. She works on Directors and Officers, Professional Indemnity, Management Liability and similar policies, both in relation to coverage issues and the defence of SME claims.

Since joining the Clyde & Co Sydney office in 2023, Madeleine has worked on a number of significant D&O and PI coverage matters. Originally from London, Madeleine has been undergoing further study to become an Australian Qualified Lawyer.

- Assisting on matters acting on behalf of insurers with respect to multiple D&O class action proceedings arising from the Royal Commission into Financial Services.
- Assisting on matters acting on behalf of primary and excess insurers in respect of proceedings alleging breaches of director’s duties and solvency obligations.
Defence
- Assisting in acting as defence counsel for one of Australia's largest insurance companies facing a number of legal proceedings involving 20 separate claims.
- Assisting in acting as defence counsel for directors in multiple SME claims.
