Casualty and property insurers, foreign syndicates, and other members of the insurance industry rely on Ted Smith to resolve conflicts and effectively litigate extra-contractual claims. Ted applies more than three decades of experience in insurance law to provide practical advice, find unique opportunities for resolution, and litigate strategically in cases involving all types of property and casualty lines of insurance.

Clients benefit from Ted’s extensive experience litigating cases and arguing appeals in federal and state courts. He is also adept at interpreting insurance policies and helping advocate a reasonable construction.

Licensed in California and Washington, Ted has worked to protect his clients in federal and state courts throughout the western United States. He also works to solve problems outside of the courtroom when possible, helping clients craft creative approaches to high-risk and high-exposure situations. Ted has developed a reputation as a practical and effective negotiator.

He also has experience in other complex disputes, representing risk management entities, securities brokers, and attorneys.
