Whitney Seltzer is a seasoned defense attorney with deep experience in complex product liability, toxic tort, mass tort, and personal injury litigation. Whitney represents prominent national and international corporations in a range of industries, including premises owners, contractors, and manufacturers and distributors of industrial equipment, chemicals, and consumer and intermediary goods. She likewise has extensive experience as both national and local counsel for several manufacturers of cosmetic and personal care products in the continually evolving talcum powder litigation. With her strategic approach to managing risk in complicated, high-stakes litigation, Whitney’s clients rely on her to protect their interests in media sensitive and reputation-shaping cases.

With more than a decade of experience, Whitney has successfully defended thousands of cases across the country’s mass tort dockets. She is a trusted adviser to companies facing complex litigation, executing strategies tailored to address immediate legal challenges while meeting broader business objectives. Whitney has overseen discovery matters throughout the United States as national coordinating counsel for multiple clients, and she routinely collaborates with industry professionals across a wide range of disciplines to build aggressive, trial-ready defenses that minimize her clients’ financial exposure and position them for success in the courtroom.

Before joining Clyde & Co, Whitney practiced at several leading national and boutique firms specializing in complex product liability and toxic tort litigation. Previously, Whitney served as in-house supervising counsel for a livery and commercial automotive insurer, where she determined defense strategy and directed allocation of resources for hundreds of arbitrations per month.

  • Served as national coordinating co-counsel for a century-old cosmetics corporation in high-profile talcum powder litigation, crafting and implementing defense strategies for hundreds of cases from inception through trial. This representation included preparing corporate witnesses for nearly two dozen depositions, a process requiring review of tens of thousands of corporate documents, assessing and synthesizing decades of company history, and researching product design, manufacture, testing, and sales. Also managed client’s most active state docket as local counsel in New York, devising case-specific litigation plans from pre-discovery through resolution, including assigning case handling attorneys and deposition coverage, and directing all fact investigation, legal research, and motion practice.
