Clyde & Co have opened offices in Johannesburg and Cape Town and are now trading in South Africa.
The offering in Johannesburg and Cape Town will initially focus on dispute resolution across the firm's core sectors of insurance, trading, aviation, natural resources, transportation and infrastructure.
The team are highly regarded in the South African legal market and have vast experience advising both domestic and international clients.
Clyde & Co Senior Partner James Burns said:
"When we launch new offices we look for a first class team and markets that strongly feature our core sectors. South Africa is not only the most developed economy in the continent, but it also provides a strong base for activity across the rest of Sub-Saharan Africa. We are delighted that Daniel Le Roux and his team will be joining us.
"We believe we have one of the strongest teams in the market, and one we are very much looking forward to working with. The offices will focus on dispute resolution and insurance in the first instance – building on our global capabilities in both of these markets."
The new offices in South Africa take the total number of Clyde & Co offices in Africa to four, alongside Dar es Salaam and Tripoli, and will support the firm's work across all 55 African jurisdictions and the wider Middle East and African region. Clyde & Co is known for being an early mover into key international commerce hubs, and has recently invested in its North American network with a new office in Southern California in June of this year.
