David qualified as a barrister in 1993 and as a solicitor in 1996.

Since then, he  has advised on the tax aspects of corporate transactions – private and public mergers, acquisitions and disposals and joint venture structures,; the tax aspects of financing transactions - facilities, bonds, structured financings, derivatives, equity investments; the tax aspects of real estate transactions – VAT, SDLT, ATED, CIS, Capital Allowances; tax-efficient employee incentives – EMIs, SAYEs, CSOPs, LTIPs; and tax litigation – taking cases to the First-tier Tribunal and bringing claims for negligence advice. In addition,  he has considerable experience of negotiating and dealing with HMRC and agreeing settlements with them.

David has published articles in the Tax Journal and Taxation and contributed to one of the leading tax textbooks, been quoted in City AM and Reuters and appeared on the BBC Business Live to discuss the EU tax plan.  He has been a member of the Committee of the British Branch of the International Fiscal Association and a member of the Law Society International Tax Sub-Committee.  Recommended in Chambers as “Leading Individual” in Tax for his “technical yet commercial” approach.
