He first worked for Clyde & Co in Hong Kong in 1990. Since then he has worked in the UK and spent nearly 20 years in the Middle East (with periods living and working in Doha, Qatar as well as in Abu Dhabi and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates). He was also the Middle East Regional Managing Partner / Chairman of another international law firm before re-joining Clyde & Co in 2014 as Managing Partner of the Abu Dhabi office.

Christopher's primary focus is on dispute resolution and he handles both domestic and international litigation and arbitration. His clients include regional and international energy companies; insurance and financial institutions; publicly listed entities; and transport organisations (including charterers, classification societies, logistic companies and ship-owners).

The matters handled are often complex, high profile and with very significant amounts in dispute.

He is a regular speaker at events and contributes to regional and international press and industry specific publications.

Christopher has been acknowledged by Chambers Global as a Notable Practitioner ranked Band One Dispute Resolution: International.

Expérience
  • Acting for a Western Government and Agencies on matters involving matters of public and private international law in the Middle East
  • Liaising with the Bar Council and senior Judiciary and advising on the enforcement of judgments in a global business and financial centre located in the Middle East   
  • Acting for a classification society on matters arising out of the sinking of a vessel with the significant loss of life
  • Acting for several global multinationals on both litigious and other matters arising post revolution in Libya
  • Defending Officers and crew as well as Owners in both criminal and civil actions arising out of alleged substantial bunker scams
  • Acting for a global State energy company in disputes and decennial liability issues arising from an EPC contract relating to a strategic petrochemical plant
  • Acting for a global consultancy firm on allegations of professional negligence involving a very significant claim for damages
