Ciaran is a London based Senior Associate in Clyde & Co’s Insurance, Financial and Professional Disputes team.

He specialises in defending professional negligence claims against legal and financial professionals and acting for insurers on related coverage disputes. Ciaran also has experience advising solicitors and law firms on regulatory investigations and proceedings. 

Ciaran has a broad commercial background and is also admitted as a solicitor in the British Virgin Islands (currently non-practising). In his spare time, Ciaran volunteers for the RFU and sits on its disciplinary panel. 
 

Expérience

Ciaran has extensive experience of acting for accountants, barristers and solicitors of various disciplines. 

Recent work includes:

• Acting for a law firm and solicitor in the ongoing defence of a multi million pound conspiracy claim, which has led to a published decision on legal professional privilege and the iniquity exception (East-West United Bank S.A. -v- Vladimir Gusinski & Ors [2024] EWHC 2223 (Ch)) 
• Representing a law firm and obtaining a costs award in a dispute relating to obligations of confidentiality (Sportcal Global Communications Ltd v Laflin [2022] EWHC 1665 (QB)). 
• Advising on the successful defence of a committal application made against a solicitor.
• Acting for a firm of UK based accountants in the successful defence of a high value claim concerning its advice given on offshore tax schemes.
• Advising a college on judicial review proceedings concerning allegations of discriminatory examination policies.
