Jervis is an Associate practicing in the Projects & Construction team at Clasis LLC. He has had experience in complex cross-border commercial litigation and arbitration disputes. Fluent in English and Mandarin, Jervis has regularly advised and represented Mandarin-speaking clients as well as PRC state-owned entities on disputes with a Singapore nexus.  
 
Jervis has appeared before the Singapore courts at all levels, including the State Courts, Family Justice Courts, High Court, Appellate Division, and the Court of Appeal. He has also acted in arbitrations under the rules of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) and the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC). 

Expérience

• Successfully represented a client before the Appellate Division of the High Court on novel issues surrounding the validity of service of an originating application, resulting in a judgment that clarified the effect of a Notice of Appointment of Solicitor and the scope of Order 4, Rule 8 (2) of the Rules of Court 2021. 
• Represented a majority unitholder of a listed business trust in various proceedings before the Singapore High Court, Appellate Division, and the Court of Appeal, as well as in an emergency arbitration under the HKIAC. The proceedings spanned various areas of law, including corporate insolvency and restructuring, corporate governance and minority oppression, trust law, and regulatory issues. The disputes concerned the affairs of a listed business trust with assets exceeding SGD 1 billion.
• Represented a claimant in an SIAC arbitration concerning the recovery of a private aircraft that was not delivered following its sale. Emergency arbitration procedure was successfully employed to obtain an interlocutory injunction against the respondent to ground the aircraft. The arbitration also involved principles of New York contract law. 
• Acted for a Chinese state-owned entity in a high-profile suit to recover loans of approximately USD 40 million, which also involved issues of corporate governance and allegations of fictitious transactions.
• Acted for a Management Corporation Strata Title (MCST) in a claim against a condominium developer and contractor for defects in the development, resulting in a multi-million dollar settlement.
• Advised a Chinese state-owned entity on various agreements with a Japanese entity in relation to the procurement of parts for the construction of nuclear energy facilities.
• Acted for an individual in relation to charges brought under the Prevention of Corruption Act involving illegal kickbacks in return for leniency being shown by a surveyor in a government project.
