He advises main contractors, employers, subcontractors and suppliers in the construction, infrastructure, engineering, and oil & gas sectors. Magnus has experience in assisting clients in relation to many projects in both the UAE and Saudi Arabia. His main area of focus is on large, complex and high value construction disputes.

Magnus Taylor graduated from the University of Warwick with a first-class degree in B.A. History. He holds an MSc in Contemporary Chinese Studies from the University of Oxford. Magnus completed his vocational solicitor training at the University of Law, graduating with Distinctions in both the Graduate Diploma in Law and MSc LPC in Law, Business and Management.

Before relocating to Dubai in March 2023, Magnus spent eighteen months in the firm's London office where he was involved in assisting on a wide range of contentious matters encompassing energy, marine, insurance, sanctions, and construction. His dual exposure to the UK and Middle East markets enables him to offer commercially focused legal solutions with a global perspective, tailored to the needs of international clients operating across jurisdictions.

Expérience
  • Advising a large mining company based in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on ICC arbitration proceedings relating to several claims totalling approximately US$882 million, arising out of the construction of a sulphuric acid plant and associated power plant, culminating in attendance at a two week hearing in London.
  • Advising a large mining company based in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in connection with dispute adjudication board and ICC arbitration proceedings involving multiple claims and counterclaims with a cumulative value in excess of approximately US$126 million, relating to the construction of a di-ammonium phosphate and NPK facility.
  • Advising a large mining company based in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in a dispute resolution process involving multiple claims totalling approximately US$1.1 billion, arising from the construction of a beneficiation plant, crusher, and overland conveyor.
  • Advising an international joint venture group on an ICC arbitration concerning utilities diversions, protective and relocation works in connection with a large scale urban transport project involving multiple claims and counterclaims with a cumulative value in excess of approximately US$338 million, including attendance at a two week hearing in London.
  • Advising an international contractor on a claim arising from delays to the construction of a luxury residential development on the Palm Jumeirah, Dubai.
  • Advising an international joint venture group on an ICC arbitration relating to the supply and installation of stainless steel bowl canopy works on a large scale urban transport project, including attendance at a two day mediation in Riyadh.
  • Advising an international contractor on an ADCCAC arbitration arising out of a major infrastructure dispute in the UAE, including attendance at a two week hearing in Dubai.
  • Advising an international contractor on a DIAC arbitration concerning the enforcement of an arbitral award.
