Monique specialises in disputes arising from energy projects, infrastructure and construction, bolstered by her background in commodities, trade finance and other commercial disputes.
She has particular expertise in international arbitrations under the SIAC, ICC, KCAB and BAC Rules, and has appeared as counsel at all levels of the Singapore Courts, including the Singapore International Commercial Court (SICC) and the Court of Appeal.
Her multi-disciplinary approach and cross-border experience allow her to deliver advice that is both commercially grounded and culturally attuned as she supports clients from early strategic risk management through to advocacy and enforcement. She has advised and acted for Fortune 100 companies, state-linked entities, and multinational corporations on a wide range of high-value, complex matters.
Monique also actively shapes conversations around international disputes. She was the most junior speaker at The Legal 500 Asia Pacific Disputes Summit 2024, was featured in the Global Trade Review (2023), and has spoken at various industry conferences in Asia.

- Acted for Fortune 100 enterprise’s renewables arm against a Southeast Asian project owner in ICC arbitration involving a 150MW solar power plant in Vietnam.
- Acted for established Taiwan petrochemical trader against a Big 5 global commodities trading house to set aside arbitral award from two consolidated SIAC arbitrations arising from gas oil specification disputes.
- Acted for subcontractor against main contractor in dispute over retention monies relating to supply and installation of steel pipe racks, governed by Singapore’s Security of Payments Act (SOPA) regime.
- Acted for Indonesian state-owned oil and gas corporation’s subsidiary against an international bank in a US$24 million trade finance dispute on sale and purchase of Djeno crude oil before the SICC and Singapore Court of Appeal.
- Acted for a Chinese mining company in two trade finance arbitrations pertaining to Light Cycle Oil against a Big 5 global commodities trading house and a regional petrochemical trading company.
- Advised an independent renewable energy power producer on dispute-related issues within its debt refinancing with the energy arm of a Philippine conglomerate. Approx. US$87.5 million availed for development, construction and commissioning of wind power projects in Vietnam with 80MW aggregate capacity.
- Assisted Sole Arbitrator in an aggregate S$13.9 million SIAC arbitration between a Singapore project owner-developer and main contractor, governed by the REDAS Design and Building Conditions of Contract, and relating to construction delays, prolongation costs and variation works.
- Assisted in a CN¥5.2 million SIAC arbitration relating to defective construction materials for high tension electrical cable metal brackets commissioned for a Singapore government project.
