Kitty’s work covers a wide range of professions, including but not limited to Solicitors, Barristers, Brokers, and Architects, in both a litigation and regulatory context. In addition to Defence and Regulatory work, she also advises Insurers on Coverage matters and has extensive claims handling experience on indemnity accounts for solicitors and medical professionals.
Expérience
Successfully defending a claim against a solicitor firm for failure to advise in relation to a major road development near the property being purchased by the client on a low fixed fee. The claim was fought on all bases: breach, causation, and loss, and a Professionals’ scope of duty was carefully examined at Trial. The Claim was dismissed with an order made for significant costs recovery.
Negotiated a settlement between a broker and its former long-term client after it was alleged that the broker failed to advise them of the need to disclose material facts. The policy was avoided, and the client brought a negligence claim against the broker for damages over £2.6 million. After robustly defending the claim, it was settled at a nominal value.
Representing Architects against investigations by the ARB and achieving positive outcomes with allegations dropped or minimal sanctions awarded.
Obtaining swift and positive outcomes for barristers on claims made against them through negotiated discontinuance of a claim or dismissal of a claim following successful applications to strike out.
Managed a Medical Malpractice account for a Lloyds Client from its first notification to the runoff of the account. Handling all notifications during this period and dealing with claims at all levels, including direct insurance and reinsurance policies both within the UK and overseas.
