Henning draws on about 20 years of experience with the insurance sector, acting for German and international clients in disputes before state courts and in arbitration proceedings. He has extensive experience in litigation as well as domestic and international arbitration (institutional and ad hoc), including corporate and commercial disputes, as well as class actions. In arbitration, he is experienced as counsel as well as arbitrator (chairman/sole and party-appointed). Henning is a CEDR accredited Mediator.

Henning has a particular focus on advising and representing (re)insurers in complex domestic and cross-border disputes covering various industries, either as monitoring, coverage or defence counsel. His specialist areas include the Financial and Professional Lines, product liability, cyber and other specialty business, such as W&I. He also frequently advises on large property, engineering and construction claims. Further, Henning stands out in the market with broad experience in reinsurance matters. Besides claims work, Henning frequently advises on product development across all business lines and in insurance regulatory matters, including international insurance programmes, German and European supervisory law, insurance distribution and competition law.

Henning is Chair of ARIAS Deutschland, Co-Chair of the Insurance Law Chapter of the German Association for Insurance Studies (DVfVW), and previously chaired the working group “PI Insurance/Financial Lines” of the Insurance Law Committee of the German Bar Association. At Clyde & Co, Henning chaired the firm’s European Board from 2021 to 2026. He joined Clyde & Co in Germany as founding partner in 2016.
