As MGAs across Europe face increasingly complex and localised regulatory requirements, global law firm Clyde & Co has partnered with FASE – the pan European federation representing Managing General Agents (MGAs) – to support firms in navigating regulatory demands across multiple jurisdictions.
FASE’s (Fédération des Agences de Souscription Européennes) mission is to link MGAs, capacity providers, distributors and service partners to share knowledge, build relationships, and improve delegated underwriting across Europe.
Through the new collaboration, Clyde & Co will share practical insight drawn from its work advising MGAs and their capacity providers across Europe, with a focus on regulatory developments, cross border distribution, governance and emerging risk.
This will include the development of an interactive European regulatory map for MGAs. The tool will provide a clear, country by country overview of the principal regulators and regulatory frameworks governing MGA activity across Europe, helping members understand how requirements differ between jurisdictions.
Eva-Maria Barbosa, partner at Clyde & Co, said: “MGAs are a vital and growing part of the European insurance market, but they are operating in an environment shaped by differing national rules and supervisory expectations. Our work with FASE is about sharing clear, usable insights that reflect how regulation is applied in practice, and helping MGAs navigate complexity with confidence.”
On 11-12 May, Clyde & Co will engage with the MGA community at the inaugural FASE Rendezvous conference in Barcelona, providing an opportunity for MGA leaders and capacity providers to connect with the firm’s experts.
As part of the two-year partnership, Clyde & Co will also develop a European MGA Report, building on its established publication produced for the UK market. The report, planned for release next year, will focus on regulatory trends and market developments affecting MGAs across continental Europe.
William Pitt, Executive Director at FASE, commented “We’re delighted to be able to share the insights and expertise of Eva-Maria Barbosa and the Clyde & Co team to help our members navigate often challenging regulatory terrain, both domestically and internationally.”
The collaboration reflects Clyde & Co’s integrated European insurance practice, with nine offices across France, Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands, Poland and Spain and builds on the firm’s long standing experience supporting MGAs in the UK market.
